Creative Process:
I studied history and art history, and have always loved historic architecture and garden ornament. The philosophy and aesthetics of the Arts and Crafts movement, with the desire to return to hand-crafted as a response to the Industrial Revolution, has been a big influence on me. I believe it is relevant today, too. All of my design, drafting and creating of the original pieces is done by hand, and it's always surprising to see how a design takes its own direction once my hands are in my materials. I work in paper, wood,clay, stone, etc. The concrete I make can pick up the finest detail while being durable enough to be outdoors year round. I am always playing with new color combinations as I create new finishes.
