Catherine Grisez

Copper and enamel

Four words to describe your process:

Enameled copper bowls and jewelry

Creative Process:

Part You is a collaboration between artist and community, encouraging all to break from routine, use your hands to create, and raise money for others to do the same in the process.

Be a part of something bigger than yourself — join artist Catherine Grisez in the making of an interactive art piece. Learn to press, hammer and form copper foil into 3-dimensional leaf shapes to create components for a sculpture. Together we will create a giant exploding leaf pile, reminiscent of one you’d jump in as a kid when a sense of wonder was more easily found in simple pleasures.

Your finished leaves and the expanding pile will be installed in an exhibition at Traver Gallery in Seattle, January-February 2017. Once complete, the sculpture will be donated to the annual Pratt art auction to raise money for art classes for underserved teens.

Adults, teens, and adult supervised youth are welcome to participate.

In addition to this community art project, I make one of a kind and limited edition accessories for the home and body. For the home – Lilliputian sized vitreous enamel copper bowls and spoons perfect for salt, spices, rings or your favorite tiny knick-knack. For the body – unique jewelry combining sterling silver and vitreous enameled copper and steel.
