Artist Books and Jewelry
Creative Process:
My one-of-a-kind artist books incorporate my own drawings, photography, and collages as well as found imagery and pressed flowers. The hard cover books are small scale and the interior imagery is covered with glass. The book cloth is hand painted and hand printed on linen. I pay as much attention to the cover designs as I do to the interior designs. The books are very tactile – how great is it to touch and hold artwork?! – and the intimate scale gives the viewer a personal experience with the imagery. Each book tells its own visual tale in diptych format. When set open for display on a shelf or surface each book has a sculptural presence too!
I make my jewelry designs from fine metals and gemstone beads. Each piece is hand made. I love the delicate play of light that occurs on lightly hammered metal combined with thoughtfully chosen gemstone beads. I think of my jewelry as sparkling statements, with a subtlety, like ripples on a pond.
