South Park Teens Head Out for Improv
Saturday, April 9th, 2011We here at South Park Arts have a special fondness for the South Park Teen Program at the Community Center. These kids have come to our rescue on several occasions. Led by the cool-n-capable Matthew Roberson, they’ve been our food vendors at Crank It Up and our groundskeepers at Putts Out. (You wouldn’t buh-lieve the before and after of Thistle Street thanks to them–they mowed, raked, bagged, swept, set up, took down, everything.)
So we wanted to treat them to a night out. Last year we funded a trip to a modernized Shakespearean play at U Dub. This year, we went for something a little more fun. On March 18th, the group piled in the van and headed for late night Jet City Improv at the University Theater. And one of their bravest, Sergio, even got on stage. I do believe he made one of the improvisers drink a “thermos of sour cream”.
That’s him at the far left, manning up with the helmet and microphone. In the group shot that’s Julio, Aren, Amber and Shanice in the back row. Larry, Delvonte, Jesus and Sergio are in the middle, and Lonzell’s in front.
Here’s to getting together for more events and more outings in 2011, South Park Teens!
