On National Night Out Against Crime, why not celebrate community with a favorite American past time: MINI-GOLF!!! This year we’ve wrangled at least 12 holes for your golfing pleasure, all created by artists and groups who love South Park, Seattle and mini-golf! The event starts at 6:00 pm Tuesday August 4th 2015 and runs until about 8:30pm. See event page here:
This event is FREE, and the FREE food is provided by the South Park Community Center, and FREE live music is provided by Barlon Mandó and Randy on Rose as DJ! Free Golf holes provided by a generous grant from the Office of Arts & Culture Seattle and organized by South Park Arts.
Please head to the 800 block of S. Thistle Street (for GPS purposes, dial in 801 S. Thistle or the South Park Community Center) grab a scorecard and play a round. When you’re done, use the ballot on the back to vote for the best hole, and the best dressed golfer! Put on your craziest clashing Caddyshack plaids and argyle to get into the spirit, and you may be voted top
South Park Arts will have T-Shirts, can koozies and stickers for sale at this event. Cash appreciated.

Hey you creative, resourceful whipper snappers. We know you want to build a mini-golf hole for South Park Putts Out. And we want to play it! It’s time to get in the application–the official due date is June 30th, just a week away.
This is a ridiculously fun way to dream up and build your own design and then watch it in action. We’ll get you $100 to cover your expenses (and more if you need it). Collaborations are most welcome.
Fear not the application. It’s no big whoop. Full instructions within: SP Putts Out Application 2011
There it is. On page 10 of the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs Annual Report. If you really want to geek out, you can download the whole report and read it here. Or you can just skip to the cool part –the South Park Putts Out part. The hole pictured is Elizabeth and Bird’s winning ’Urban Jungle’, the hole that received the most votes from the neighborhood, and man, was it close.
We’re looking forward to this year’s creations and hoping it’s just as hard to pick your favorite. Start firing up those ideas and collaborations!
