This year we’re moving to the Community Center for some much needed space. With the larger venue we can accept more artists than ever before. Spread the word to those that might be interested. The deadline to apply is less than a week away. Print out the application and mail in with your booth fee. You’ll hear back by the 25th if you’ve been accepted!

SOUTH PARK ARTS ANNOUNCES 6TH ANNUAL ART UNDER $100

SEATTLE:  The 6th Annual “Art Under $100” sale takes place Saturday, December 4, in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood. Sponsored by South Park Arts, “Art Under $100” showcases work by artists who live and work in South Park.

When:                     Saturday, December 4 from 4:00pm-10:00pm

Where:                    South Park’s Old Fire Station, 8201 10th Avenue South, Seattle, WA 98108

Price:                      Free Entry. Art Raffle every 30 minutes.

South Park artists will knock your socks off with original, edgy works not seen at a typical holiday sale. What’s more, everything is affordable, with nothing priced over $100. The event will showcase a diverse array of art, including painting, sculpture, neon, jewelry, clothing, photography, glass, letterpress, and more.

Sip wine, feast on appetizers, and actually enjoy holiday shopping.

A mysterious masked bugle boy will blow his horn every half hour to announce art raffles donated by the participating artists.  Raffle tickets will be available for $2 each or 3 for $5.

All proceeds benefit South Park Arts, an organization dedicated to supporting, representing, and promoting art and artists in Seattle’s South Park neighborhood.

For the latest installment of our Artist-to-Artist series, South Park Arts founder Wendy Woldenberg chats with Elizabeth Knopf. Both are fantastically creative jewelry makers who draw on found objects — Wendy uses natural forms to create jewelry in precious metals while Elizabeth represents nature by upcycling discarded materials. Both are veterans of Art Under $100 and will be happy to see you at the 2010 sale!

Elizabeth: Wendy, I am wondering how long have you been making jewelry and what some of your favorite materials to work with are?

Wendy: I started making jewelry to help pay my rent back in 1990. At the time, I mainly used wire and fimo clay, and sold everything for $5. With every piece I made and sold, I became more and more addicted to the sense of accomplishment. Lately, I have been really into using yellow gold and brightly colored faceted gemstones. But, I also like to use shells, river rocks, beach glass, and white metals, too.
