Tour South Park – July 13th!

Thursday, July 7th, 2011

Next Wednesday, July 13th, let’s get out in force for a stroll or a bike ride around the neighborhood.

It’ll be the perfect excuse to enjoy a summer evening, chat up your neighbors and learn South Park fun facts (an historic former brothel, river restoration, a speakeasy, farming, skating–it’s all in the mix.) Plus you’ll be able to visit the studios of local artists.

Grab a map for a self-led tour or meet up at the Neighborhood Center for a guided bike tour. (There are two bike tours. One leaves at 6:30 and one at 7:30).

More updates to come, but plan on motivating yourself and others next Wednesday. For more ways to get In Motion, check out the King County program web page, and learn how to reduce single car trips.

The Putts Out Application Deadline is Approachin’

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

Remember Foggy Mountain Breakdown from last year? Insane!

Hey you creative, resourceful whipper snappers. We know you want to build a mini-golf hole for South Park Putts Out. And we want to play it! It’s time to get in the application–the official due date is June 30th, just a week away.

This is a ridiculously fun way to dream up and build your own design and then watch it in action. We’ll get you $100 to cover your expenses (and more if you need it). Collaborations are most welcome.

Fear not the application. It’s no big whoop. Full instructions within: SP Putts Out Application 2011

Violet commanding The Urban Jungle

There it is. On page 10 of the Seattle Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs Annual Report. If you really want to geek out, you can download the whole report and read it here. Or you can just skip to the cool part –the South Park Putts Out part. The hole pictured is Elizabeth and Bird’s winning ’Urban Jungle’, the hole that received the most votes from the neighborhood, and man, was it close.

We’re looking forward to this year’s creations and hoping it’s just as hard to pick your favorite. Start firing up those ideas and collaborations!

P.S.
Hi Violet!
