AU100 is aiming to return to its roots this year. It began 10 years ago as a way for working or underground artists (mainly from South Park) to create a body of art that would be able to sell for an affordable price. In its early years, each booth was filled with ART – paintings, sculpture, and functional pieces which didn’t appear at other shows. Artists viewed THIS event as a challenge. How can I make work which is affordable, interesting, unique, and one-of-a-kind?
Can you challenge yourself to create functional or decorative objects which are elevated to the sphere of art? How can you make items that are truly ART UNDER $100? Obviously, it is a good idea for artists to have work that ranges in price from very affordable to right up to the $99 mark. This return to our roots isn’t meant to make each artist have only expensive work, but continue to have a range.
Here is the link to this year’s application: http://www.jotform.us/form/32046686311148 Judging criteria will reflect this idea of ART UNDER $100 (as well as extra points for being a SPArtist), so please get busy and start creating for those images you are about to submit!
Deadline is September 21, 2014.
